This was my first time making falafel! I love falafel. I used to go to a Turkish/ Middle Eastern Grill, that is unfortunately closed, that made wonderful falafel and muhammara. Making falafel is a lot easier than I had expected. Having a deep fryer thermometer and a new blender helped make the process easy. For my falafel sandwich, I had some of the naan that I bought for my Fattoush and Buffalo-style hummus that I had picked up from Trader Joes. Since I didn’t make a Tahini Sauce to go along, I wanted some other accent and I found that if I added the “buttermilk” from the Fattoush, it gave a nice cooling affect to balance the heat from the falafel and the hummus. The picture below, I had added some sumac for flare, but I usually skipped that.
