Things I bought for Germany

First. Mezzo Mix soda. I had tried this in my SnackCrate and I love this soda. It’s not as sweet as American sodas (although it is a Coca-cola product) and has a light hint of orange. I splurged on this purchase on Amazon but I love this soda so much.

Um. You can’t cook German food without having a cold beer IMO. I picked this 6-pack up from Fresh Market and it was light and refreshing. I haven’t been drinking as much so the 6-pack lasted a couple of weeks.

I didn’t make Spaetzle this month but I did find this at Lidl in the frozen section. Not bad at all. I’m pretty sure yours supposed to serve 4 from the bag but I split it into two servings. It’s way gummier that it looks on the bag but super filling especially with a glass of beer.

Here’s what it looked like cooked
Local Sauerkraut

I bought sauerkraut. I love sauerkraut. This is a locally made product that I found at Ellwood Thompson. I especially love topping my pork chops with this sauerkraut. I was planning on making it from scratch (even though fermenting foods in my house makes me slightly nervous) but in the cookbook he just takes already fermented sauerkraut and dresses it up. I passed on doing that.

Picked Beets

Pickled beets from Lidl. Yep, still hate beets…even if they’re pickled.

Riesling

Not imported from Germany but it had a high score at Lidl plus it was just under $5, so I bought two. Using Riesling for two recipes but I also enjoy drinking Riesling. The first sip was a little shocking especially since I haven’t drank wine in awhile, but this is a very drinkable wine. Personally I prefer Grüner Veltliner, but that’s technically Austrian/ Hungarian/ Slovakian/ Czech.
